HISTORY

Empowering Communities Through Compassion

The founding of Bali & Beyond Consultants (BBC) stems from personal growth and passion. Our founder, Nathan Tew, left his home in the USA to volunteer in Mexico back in 2005. During the years he lived in Mexico, he witnessed a different, more humble, simple and often difficult, way of life. This experience changed his perspective and became the seed of his passion for humanitarian work that would fuel his path.

After returning home and getting his Bachelors, he decided to grow his knowledge of international development, human rights, and humanitarian work. This led him to graduate school and a year-long humanitarian internship in Sydney, Australia.

Passion for Social Work

Nathan Tew returned to the US and found employment with a governmental agency that pursues the protection of civil rights in employment and public accommodation. This was a very uplifting and eye-opening opportunity to see the struggles that other Americans and migrants experience within the US. As rewarding as that particular position was, he felt the pull to help on a more international stage where many face much higher levels of difficulties, such as those he saw in Mexico. In order to find his fit, he left his government job and moved his family abroad to Indonesia.

The first step was to find employment with a company that was interested in developing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. He began doing pilot projects as COVID hit Indonesia and the world. This opportunity led to a new experience as the 2nd-in-command with an NGO based in Bali that focused on improving education for children.

After two years as a high-level manager, Nathan began to understand the limitations in outreach of an NGO. In order to improve the impact of the work in location and substance, BBC was born in September 2023. The seed of passion that had been planted in 2005, had finally grown to its new form.

As consultants we do much more than provide consultations. We build cooperation, collaboration, and relationships. We are the link between local, beneficiary communities and corporations, small businesses, tour or family groups, and individuals. We assist you in positively impacting the lives of others!

Vision

Although many organizations already operate within the humanitarian realm, many have limited scope, reach, or impact. This may be due to fund allocation practices and policies, expertise, or international limitations set by the organization's home country government. As local, Indonesia-based consultants, we have the local knowledge, language, and connections to simplify humanitarian work through agile, cost-effective collaborations. Our vision is to help the most deserving communities throughout Indonesia with the assistance of our corporate, private, and individual partners.

Mission

As consultants, we want to shed the inflexibility, cost inefficiency, and often less-impactful aspects of humanitarian work. Our main mission is to impact the most underserved communities in Indonesia in ways that legitimately provide a benefit based on their needs.
