Global Teacher Program in Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo became a meaningful space for cross-cultural educational collaboration as Global Teacher chose the region as the location for their latest program.
Over six days, the program brought international and local educators together through classroom placements and professional learning activities, fostering exchange, reflection, and shared growth.

Classroom Placements
For four days, Global Teacher participants were placed alongside local educators at:
SMAK St. Ignatius Loyola
SMPK Sta. Yosefa Labuan Bajo
SMKN 3 Komodo
SDI Merombok
SMAN 3 Komodo
Working directly in classrooms, they collaborated with local teachers, engaged with students, and experienced firsthand the dynamics of teaching within the Labuan Bajo education community.
These placements created opportunities for mutual learning, where both global and local educators exchanged ideas, teaching approaches, and perspectives.
Professional Development Workshop
The program also included a one-day professional development workshop attended by 60 teachers from SD–SMA–SMK across Labuan Bajo.
The workshop focused on three key themes:
School engagement and strategic approaches to learning environments
Active learning methodologies and inclusive student participation
Mental health awareness and supportive classroom practices
These sessions created space for meaningful discussion, practical insight-sharing, and reflection on how schools can strengthen both academic engagement and student well-being.
Impact
This program highlighted the value of collaboration grounded in presence, openness, and mutual respect. By choosing Labuan Bajo, Global Teacher contributed to meaningful engagement with local schools and educators.
